Where They Live- Red pandas only live in temperate forests in the hills of the Himalayas. The temperature in this region is generally cool, and there is little annual variation. Where the biome is located- Temperate rainforests are found along some coasts. The largest temperate rainforests are found on the Pacific coast of North America. They stretch from Oregon to Alaska for 1,200 miles. Smaller temperate rainforests can be found on the southeast coast of Chile in South America.
Why the Red pandas are suited to the location- The red pandas is a bamboo eater and so its diet is mainly bamboo. During the summers, the red panda may feed on fruits, mushrooms, leaves, grasses, roots, lichens and acorns. Although considered herbivores, the red panda will occasionally take bird eggs and it is known that they may eat mice and birds on occasions. Red Pandas are listed as endangered by IUCN and Appendix II. The major threats to the red pandas are loss of habitat due to deforestation and forest fragmentation. Red Pandas are often killed for their coats to make fur hats and clothes. Because of the growing human population in China, Red Panda habitats are being cleared to build houses. Approximately 10,000 pandas die per year, and approximately 7,000 of the 10,000 die from deforestation.
Could Red pandas live anywhere else?- Yes, They could live in zoo's or the united states but, they would need almost all the things that would help them survive if they were out in the wild.
